Yes it is too big for a baby or juvenile ball pythons. I keep juvenile ball pythons in 16qt tubs and babies in a 6 qt. Ball pythons like small spaces because they need to feel secure.

Are you talking a cage or a tub? If its a cage as long as you have good ambient temps in there and a good hide or two your fine. 6 qt hatchling tubs are ideal if you have a rack system but if you have one snake theres no reason for a rack.
