I get like that with a lot of things myself. I'll come back to them after a short while, so I don't really mind it though lol.

    Re: Anyone like me?

I am the same way!! Even for some snakes that I've had as well.

For instance, I joined up karate again with the same studio after 7 years. I didn't even consistantly go for two months and I had already gotten bored of it. I was excited in the beginning from the thought of getting a Black Belt by the time I was out of school and knowing how to use a weapon. But then.. I got bored LOL.

I can't ever, EVER stick with activities. I try 'em then get bored. I've never been serious with any sports or activities. Snakes are really the only things I truly love and am dedicated to which makes me not want to do anything else. But I even get bored of some snakes of mine, such as the ones who don't necessarily benefit my collection and having to lose money for the food I have to buy. SO, with that in mind, I recently got rid of the snakes I truly do not have any use for.

I definitely know how you feel about this type of thing!

IMO, this seems to be a more and more common mindset as kids grow up in a society full of instant gratification. I find that the younger generations want what they want when they want it, and seek that immediate gratification that comes with whatever new toy or new whatever it is they want. Then, once the euphoria of the instant gratification wears off, they get bored. And now these people are left with whatever they wanted so badly they had to have it right then, they no longer have an interest because they're onto the next "gotta have it right now" thing.

Unfortunately, this is a behavior I feel like I see all too often with snakes, and I'm sure some older members could agree with me on this. I have seen several members come and go over the years I've been here, and they all come in with the same passion and excitement for reptiles, specifically bps. Then, we see all of these big breeders posting pics of the latest and greatest reptile they've produced, which puts another thing on that "gotta have it right now" list. The typical person just getting into the hobby doesn't think about the amount of money and the years of work that went into producing that high end $10k morph, and the "gotta have it" mentality kicks in. They will go out and spend whatever right now to buy the hatchlings that will eventually produce this coveted snake, so excited about the end result. Then, the euphoria wears off and now they have two more snakes they're going to have to feed and take care of for the next 3 years before even STARTING to breed. Then, six months later when they are bored of these snakes that aren't breeding and producing the morphs, they're selling them off to buy a new boa or whatever the next "gotta have it now" thing is.

I just think too many people get their first snake and within two weeks, they've made these big plans of becoming a breeder of high end morphs, without taking the time to really consider what goes into owning and breeding them. It makes me sad to think about the snakes that could end up neglected and suffering when the "cool" factor wears off...

My issue right now is with my bps, I love them to death don't get me wrong, but seeings how I have no more money to buy more I am getting kinda bored with them. However I do know I need to stick with this as it could open many doors for me, and if I sold them I would just want more.

Just wondering if anyone is as crazy as I am and a little ADHD and jump from thing to thing?

Im the say exact way except with BPs. I still love and am very passionate about my snakes, I have big plans for them.
Some pets I do get bored of and I take that as a lesson learned. I bred cockatiels for 5 years and finally I just kind of wanted out.

Or I make a goal for myself and work hard to get there and concentrate on only that goal. Say its to buy an expensive BP then once I do it I move to the next goal I can do.

I am still very much interested in my snakes, and have loads of goals to achieve in this hobby, so I won't be leaving anytime soon. I just have a super hyper mind with lots of goals in life, and my.mknd jumps jumps jumps and won't slow down enough for me to smell the flowers. One day I will have my dreams complete but as for now. My mind is still a jumpin.

    Re: Anyone like me?

I think what you are explaining is just a big part of the human condition. I think it is human nature to want for and look forward to the next big thing. This reminds me of a quote and I am not sure who coined it but here it is.

" The secret to happiness is wanting what you already possess."

Yeah I know living inside my head can be a trip sometimes .

I get like that... I work hard and play harder.... I got into pythons about 2 months ago and now have 20... And looking to pick up a few more this week. Im like that with about everything from cars, to work... It could be a selective ADHD thing for me tho.

I bought my BPs because I enjoy them. I doubt any big doors will open for me without putting tens of thousands of $$$$ into it. The Morph's, and cross breeds are so advanced. By the time I get there (Without just buying a $15k snake) It would be old news. So I buy my "PETs" for me. Im sure I could sell a few here and there but nowhere near enough to pay the bills. Just to sell the ones I dont hold back.

I get like that, I get all excited and hyped up for something, then after a short period of time get bored and am looking for the next challenge.

But what I found odd is I do not feel that with the reptiles. I love every aspect and have not gotten bored of them yet. I don't think I ever will.
