    Is it worth getting?

So I know a person selling a female pied for relatively cheap. However, the person that is selling it lives 4 hours away from my place. Is it worth getting? It could fit into my breeding plans, yet it could not. I dont like hets, but lesser het pieds would be great in the future.

exactly what is cheap? Will the person ship because 4hrs cost a lot more in gas than shipping, but it is not the end of the world to drive. I would drive many more than that for a Pied that is relatively cheap

my breeder bought a spider female for $ 8000 they do not hold value they drop every year. pieds hold better than some but they still drop.

Op no one can really answer this for you. But things I be thinking about are are you going to breed professionally (full time 70% of your income from it) serious amateur (support your hobby costs) or just casually? The answer is different for all. If you want to go pro there answer is yes no question. Seriously it is likely a good idea if you can spend that money now. The casual breeder it is a maybe be. to me I'd be interested in that individual animal, is it good looking do I want it? is it a good feeder? Is it well tempered. Basically the casual breeder it is a pet and having a mean or poor feeder (maybe both) animal is not worth it. Pro breeders don't care if it is a good pet it isn't a pet but an investment in future revenue. Semipro might not be overly bothered by a ill tempered animal as it will pay the bills or at least its own keep.

the only problem with this animal is that its not going to be able to breed this season and maybe next. But it is a 50/50 white pied. I am trying to see if it would make a good investment. Because I would like to breed lesser het pieds together to make a white snake/ pied. How many people buy pieds these days? Especially females? Plus this pied is cheap, which makes me wonder if it has any problems.

A lot of people buy pieds or wants them and that is why the cost so much.

A Pied that is breeding age and size will cost a lot more than one that will take a few years.

The reason why I ask if pieds are in demand because I want to buy this pied, but later on my breeding plans might change and I might want to sell the pied in order to fund my other project which is a BEl instead of Bel/pied.
