That was another reason I use spring. Tap water seems to leave a film after a day or so. I change water every other day.

You don't need to get insulting, people don't all know about or agree about the same things.

Thanks for chiming in everyone. I guess when it comes down to it, tap water is just fine. However, I feel better giving them the spring water which at .50 a gallon, it's not breaking the bank.

Re: Spring or tap water?
I give my snakes spring water too. Where I live we have a well and the water is really super hard. I think the calcium was over 300 ppm. If you were to boil a pot of our tap water dry there is a very shocking about of calcium left. I worry that way to much calcium might cause some type of bladder stone or something similar. There is a store near us where I can get 3 gallons of spring water a a quarter, so that's what my whole family drinks (snakes included).

The white crud is perfectly safe, its just mineral deposits like calcium from hard water, which are not present in bottled water due to the excessive filtration and purification they do. The minerals are fully natural and present in all water, harmless in the concentrations any tap water would contain, so relax. Its just a slight eyesore at the most, but is easily removed with a wipedown using lemon or vinegar.
And yes nock why do you have to be so angst? You got something wrong with you?

Re: Spring or tap water?
When you have around 50 snakes, tap water is a lot easier / economical.

People write a lot of ignorant statements on this board not related to snakes. I feel the need to correct them.
Also I'm waiting to go off on someone who claims that voltage goes through something too.

You mean like the white calcium deposits your snake pees out?

I use tap, I really find it hard to believe that people would give their snakes bottled water. They are snakes, been around since the dinosaurs drinking pond scum...I think they can handle tap water... lol
