    trying to pop bp

ive tried like 4 or 5 different times, usually right after his bowel movements, and ive never been able to actually get hemipenes to pop. i usually end up getting peed on to some degree and then theres this thick white substance that comes out also. i figured that it was sperm and that meant he was a boy but then started wondering if it could just be urates that arent hard, if that even happens. im thinking im just going to get a probe kit to be a little more sure but then those arent always accurate either so if even anyone knows of a good cheap set please let me know. i just wanted to get some opinions on wat other ppl think of eddies sex. if eddies a girl then its time to come up with a girls name kinda close, maybe edina, or edwina or eden. any help is appreciated. thnx!

Has anyone ever shown you how to pop a bp to check for gender? I'm not sure how experienced you are, but I would recommend you have someone that really knows what they are doing sex your snake. Popping and probing if done incorrectly can cause damage to your snake. I am still not totally comfortable doing it so I just take my little ones to my closest reptile’s breeder... Just my two cents.

I am having uses popping and someone on here told me practice practice practice. So I tried on my gf normal, cuz I don't want to hurt my breeders. All I got was sperm plugs out of him no hemipenis. So I tried on my other snakes thinking well maybe I'll get one to pop. My het pied male just gave me sprem plugs. But my spider full inverter his hemipenis so idk if its easier on some and not others or what.

Also to people how know what they are doing my spider male is a 2010 born in august, he is 817 grams last weigh in. I want to breed him this year but he didn't produce any sperm plugs does that mean I won't be able to breed him?

You can also try probing. Just make sure whichever method you use, you don't try it on the snake too often. Way too much stress for the poor thing.

If you can't pop I would not recommend you to try probing should only be done by someone experienced as you can injure your animal.

What you need to do is find someone local to you to teach you both methods, popping is not difficult however the main mistake that people make is that they either do not apply enough pressure or do not position their fingers properly.

Once you learn to pop you need to keep practicing.

I think the biggest thing with me was just being nervous about what I was doing. but after a little practice its pretty easy now. If you can find a breeder near you that will be your best bet, show you what you need to do.

If you dont know how to pop then dont attempt probing until you ate shown how to do it and you are confident. Also are you positive you have a male? You may have a female. I dont probe hatchlings. They tend to move too much.

I accidently popped my little ball not too long ago lol.. I had tried it before without any luck. My cousin came over to see my snakes and I was telling him how you can sex snakes. I was telling him about popping and I went to demonstrate not thinking I'd get it and I did it! Maybe you just need to be relaxed when you do it lol...
