Cages
I have a question about building a custom made enclosure for a ball python. What type of wood is safe to use when building the cage. Obviously, cedar is out of the question. Which type is the best to use?

Re: Cages
Back when I built homemade cages I preferred using oak laminated plywood and lined the inside to protect it from moisture etc. It looked nice and held up very well.

I just noticed that and it reminds me of a time I wasn't paying attention and took a step and fell down an entire flight of stairs. I had to laugh about it when I reached the bottom, I was unhurt by the fall.

Re: Cages
I used birch and oak on my enclosure -- and then sealed it with marine grade wood sealant. I've had it for almost a year, and I haven't had any problems with warping or anything. Also, I used plexiglass for the floor, which made it super easy to use heat tape.
Here's a link to pics of my cage if you need any ideas http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=92263
Good luck!

I have been searching craigs list and freecycle and driving the alleys this morning looking for old furniture to convert. I really want to have/make something that has drawers or cabinet to keep all the supply stuff hidden and out of the way.
Loving the link, something like that would be great.
