Found a bunch of mites in the water bowl
I have a bottle of reptile spray, what is the standard procedure to get rid of them?
Other than using the spray on her, I assume I should throw out all of the substrate and wipe down the tank. Any other recommendations?

First soak the snake in a container of warm water, with a couple three drops of dish detergent for 30-45 minutes.
Clean out the entire tank and spray it down with a good mite killer.
Replace snake, repeat again in 2 weeks.
Check out what's available at

Treat the bedding with mite killer also. I know a lot of big breeders do this.

Sprays that are like Reptile Relief dont work well.
Order Provent a Mite and problem solved

make sure the old bedding completely removed don't just toss in in a open bag near the snake mites will crawl out and end up some where else. I'd toss a moth ball in the garbage with the old bedding (not new bedding the stuff you are throwing away) tie it up and remove it from your place.
With any insecticide follow the instructions very very carefully. Never forget it is designed to kill things.
