    Question Incubator suggestions.

    Hey guys,

I'm planing on breeding a pair of my BP's this season and I was looking at getting an incubator. I was looking at the DIY suggestions and I think I would feel more comfortable buying a professionally made one. I was looking at the reptibator and the hovabators but I plan on expanding my breeding plans in the next few years.

My question to you guys is what is a good incubator to use that can support 6 or so clutches? I was looking at the animal plastic one but its a little bit out of my price range right now.

    Thanks!!

i am seriously thinking of buying this. The shipping costs to Canada are crazy though.. I'm looking at 150 bucks extra to get it here :\. The owner is really awesome though. He said he'd pay for $50.00 worth of shipping so thats cool. Gave me a shipping quote right to my address.

Even if I don't get this product I can say a lot of good things about the customer service with this company!

    Cheers.

    Re: Incubator suggestions.

Thats a good price for a quality incubator. I used to use a few kinda like that till i built my walk in incubator. They worked great. Do yourself a favor and put it on a helix. Ive seen incubators like that for as high as a grand so its worth it even if ya have to pay 150 for shipping.

Best to convert a mini dorm fridge or cooler into incubator. Unless you plan on breeding enough to make buying 300$+ incubators worth it id build custom one.

I got a Upright Freezer free off craigslist, added 11ft of 11" flexwatt, herpstat, 4 80mm fans 15 2 liter bottles for water. This will hold 28 6qt tubs with temps of 88.1-89.5.

    Started with this.

    Flexwatt Installed

Fans Ran and powered by a Computer 300w power supply Jumped with paperclip(search Google for help on this)

Or you can follow something like this

    Re: Incubator suggestions.

I built my incubator and wouldnt have it any other way. I emailed the natures spirit with a question about building a custom incubator..... That was 2 years ago still havent herd back from them. Doesnt matter if all i had to do is pay shipping I would not accept one from them now. I built my machine out of an old clear door pepsi cooler that had a bad compressor. I cut the compressor out and wired in about 30 ft of flex watt (over kill yes but it heats up and stabalizes quickly) and i am running that off a helix. I just dont see the reason to spend big bucks I can put something like 20, 10qt egg tubs in this incubator and still leave a water pan in the bottom whole project cost less than $200. If you dont wanna spend a ton of money building one is the only way to go
