That prerunner is pretty sick... I've always wanted one but Fl. Doesnt have many places to put it to use.
Richs... Thats a 649 RWHP launch? Or was that number after the video and more work?

Not a full launch as tires as you see had bad traction. Car wasnt street legal and wasnt putting cheater slicks on for a quick video. When the slicks are on at the track the wheelie bar was required due to car would lift 2ft+ in front. I was able to do a 10.1 at track but father hit 9.89 and 154mph with the 514 after the gears were redone. The car was still a stick since no money for newer tranny.

APR or something else? My '02 A4 1.8T desperately wants an APR Stage 1+ and some TT225 injectors - going from 170HP (stock) to 230 would wake the car up nicely. Gotta have some spare money lying around first, though; the software is $500, the injectors are $340, the upgraded DV (thinking of going with the Synchronic because to my non-engineer eyes, at least, it seems like a really good design) is another $180, and the Podi boost gauge I want to go along with that stuff is $200. $1200 or so plus shipping, and me with "real" expenses. Maybe I can at least get the boost gauge soon - if nothing else, it'd be useful for problem diagnosis.

olstyn- Yes I have APR stage 2 since I have a full turboback exhaust. Wait til around Xmas time and APR will usually do a special on a fully loaded ECU for $500 which is the normal price for 1 program and stock. I was able to get a 91 tune, a 93 tune, a 100 tune, valet, and stock for $500. The DV I went with was a Forge Splitter. It is the best of both worlds. And as far as boost gauges go, I am running a Prosport gauge. You can get a mechanical one for roughly 40 bucks, and if your car has the blue/red gauges, it matches almost perfectly. If you have any questions, shoot me a pm.

Ghosted - yeah, I know about APR's semi-frequent sales, and will definitely go that route when the time comes. I just wish the base price would drop rather than getting extra features I don't need added on free. (I really just need the 91 octane tune, as 93 octane is pretty scarce around here and I just about never take my car to the dealer anyway, so the stock shouldn't be necessary and I'm not particularly worried about the valet option.) Regarding the boost gauge, I know there are cheaper options, but the Podi ones integrate so well with the A4 interior that they just really appeal to me. It'll look like it belongs there rather than being something "tacked on," if you know what I mean.

olystn- Yea I know what you mean about something looking integrated vs being just a simple slap and dash job. I plan on getting something a little different down the line, but for now it suits my purpose. Do you ever go on the vwvortex forums? They have alot of info about different tuning companies as well. There is alot of buzz going on about a newer one that is out there called Gonzo tuning. If I didnt have APR already, I would be highly interested in them.

Really not that expensive to build if you buy the coilovers and joints and fab it yourself, just alot of work.
After the old guy hit me but before I got the motor out to look at the frame I was planning on doing a 5.0 conversion in it, but with the motor/tranny pulled I could see the driver's side lower control arm mount touching the cab... yea she got scrapped at that point.

Oh, and spindles... would be pretty hard to build your own that could put up with the abuse.
