What cheap thermostat do you recommend?

I need a thermostat that is cheap but is good. I was going to buy the zilla temperature controller for my snake rack, but I dont know how to use it. Can someone tell me a good thermostat to use for snake racks and how to use it. P.s. wrote the same thread, but in the wrong forum topic.

Re: What cheap thermostat do you recommend?

Cheap & thermostat is a 4 letter word around these parts..

I used a alife about 10yrs ago, but first thing I did when I got back into keeping bp's this year was buy a herpstat. Last thing I want to worry about is the thermostat failing..

The alife never failed me, still have it to this day. I use it now for my seedling heat mats to control them. But investing the amount of money Ive spent this year I wanted the peace of mind.

If I had to I would use the alife again for a short period of time.

Here's a link to it at beanfarm- http://beanfarm.com/product_info.php...oducts_id=5685.

Pick up a johnsons controls thermostat from reptile basics. They are like 80 bucks and work great. If you care about your snakes i wouldnt cheap out in that dept. I have 8 johnsons and 7 helix and they both work just as well the only difference is my helix are set up with night drop. You can get the johnsons with night drop though

Ya a thermostat is not the area to be cheap. Spend the money and get a good one. I use a helix and a herpstat and both are good. If u get a cheap one it could burn your snakes or not provide heat and cause digestion issues or cause them to become sick

i wouldnt trust that thing. your trusting the health and life of your snake to a 26 dollar piece of plastic. if that thing fails, and prolly will, then your going to be spending more in vet bills than it would cost for a good thermostat. good luck. i hope it works for you

Re: What cheap thermostat do you recommend?

While I would normally agree with all of the above posters about thermostats, my Hydrofarm thermo stats have been fantastic, and I've been using them for a full year straight!

Yeah, they definitely waver in temperature a bit, but not more than 2 or three degrees in either direction! I have four of them and they are fantastic!

    Good luck!
