i have my probes on the inside of my tank. I just tape them to the bottom of the tank and hide the cords with some plants..

You should NEVER do this. Tape on the inside of the tank is an absolute no-no. Please look at the number one sticky over all care sheets.

IMO scotch tape is fine, avoid packing tape. Probe outside the tank will not give an accurate temp reading. The probe should be place on top of the UTH, then have the bedding cover it. I would just get rid of the tank and get tubs! so much easier to clean and keeps humidity in. High humidity is ok, just as long as the enclosure is not wet.
