little ones discovering their firsts
just thought i'd share this load of cuteness going on here.
my 5 month old little girl has discovered raspberries & boy does she try so hard to blow the biggest messiest raspberry, ever. it's a daily endevor for her, she is determined to get it right & thoroughly enjoys the ensuing slobber mess in the process.
she gets all serious trying to concentrate her efforts & has even gone cross eyed in an apparent attempt to see the funny noise that hole in her face keeps making.
ah man i love watching babies discover things like that, sounds they can make, their own hands & feet.
oh she's doing that too, trying to find a way to fit her entire fist into her mouth. she stares hard at it for a good minute, turning it every which way, to figure out why it's just not fitting in there.
oh man, loads of fun over here...wish i had pics or videos to share, sorry.

Ah, such a fun age. My son is 12 now, and just today I have been going through my photos. I just put together a file with all his elementary years. I can believe how tiny he used to be. I have enjoyed everyminute being a mom. Well except for maybe the broken sliding glass door. It sure has been a ride though.

Wow, small world, my son is 5 months old as well. He loves when we give him rasberries on his stomach. Peek a boo with a blanket is one of my favorites at the time. It is really amazing watching them develop.
Whenever I try to take videos he stops what he is doing and just stares at the video camera in fascination.
It's funny you mention the hand in mouth activity. My little guy seems to always have at least a finger in there. Funny stuff, thanks for the laugh.

Re: little ones discovering their firsts
every baby is unique with their experiences & even though this little girl is my 3rd child, it's like our first time all over again.
i called my mom in california yesterday so she could hear the babies raspberries & of course she stopped & looked at the phone like it was from another planet i had it on speaker so she was probly trying to figure out how i had a voice coming out of my hand.
then just as my mom was saying she had to go the baby did a couple raspberries & my mom stayed on the phone for a couple more minutes going back & forth with her.
last night the baby was showing daddy her new talent. she was so proud of herself, you could just see the glee as he cleaned up the slobbery mess on her chin & in the rolls of her neck, lol.
daddy & i are starting to wonder how yummy those little fists are too cuz this little girl sucks on 'em like theres cream filling in 'em. you can hear the sucking across the house!
he was even like "what in the world did you dip her hands in?! sugar?" i swear i didnt do anything like that, i wouldn't cuz she's too little.
fun times.
Lgray23 - i hear your pain with the talking back thing. i get alot of lip from my now 10 yr old girl. whoo-wee she's got enough attitude to make a teenager jealous!

I don't have children of my own, but I'm helping my parents to raise my sister's two young boys (it's a long story). The younger one, Blake, is just about 8 months old now, and is a precocious little turd. 5 months old? Crawling. Right now he can pull himself up to stand and keep himself balanced with just one hand. He's working on figuring out walking. And just a couple weeks ago we got his first word, 'Mama'. He was SO PROUD of himself, just grinning up a storm when we started fussing over him.
Granted, he seems to think I'm Mama, so we'll have to change his mind on that one (my sister lives across the city and can only visit every weekend or every other weekend, so he just doesn't see his mom often).
The older boy, Aiden, just turned 4, and is working on a set of slightly different firsts. Me, my parents, and Aiden all have season passes to Six Flags, since we live like 10 minutes away, and we've been taking him a lot. At first he would refuse to go on ANYTHING. He was terrified of the rides, and his grandpa (who he calls Doodah) had to go on a kiddie ride with him to show him that it was okay. Seeing him gradually learn about how fun the rides can be is a whole other experience, and a couple months ago, he finally got up the courage to go on his first roller coaster (a kiddie one, but it still counts!).
He went on it six more times that day.
Now he's mad that he's an inch too short for some bigger coasters. He also just got his first bike for his birthday, and is learning to ride it (training wheels included for now).

Haha, this brings back memories. We don't have any kiddos ourselves, but we got to watch my sisters kids grow up as well as my little brother in law.
If you really want to have some fun, I have one word for you: Lemons!
