Sorry for being a stranger..
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on much lately. So much going on in my life. Left my fiance of 8 years last week because I wasn't happy anymore. Trying to do things to make myself happy for once. I was in a very controlling relationship and I wasn't allowed to do anything so now its a huge change going out with old friends and meeting new people. Since I have left so many things have came out of the works, cheating, lying and what-not..so I feel like I did the right thing..just feeling a little lonely and sad but I have so many people standing behind me so I think i'll be okay. Totally feeling stupid for not seeing any of this going on though. Sorry for ranting and maybe giving a little TMI but I just wanted to let you all know that I didn't leave the forum. I actually convinced my grandparents to let me keep Rio here so i'm so excited about that. When I fed him yesterday my grandpa was so interested in it..so I think things will work out in the end..

Keep your head up! It may not feel like a 'good' thing right now, but getting out of a controlling relationship that included lying and cheating.. that's certainly the 'right' thing by anyone's definition.
Sometimes the little things can keep everything in perspective. Nothing calms me down quite like cleaning cages and taking each of the critters out in turn. It's so cool that your grandparents are fine with your snake, I love showing off my animals to friends and family

Re: Sorry for being a stranger..
It's good to see you back. Keep your chin up and you will be ok. I know it's not easy making the decision to end a relationship, but it sounds like it is for the better and the value of a few close friends will go a long way as you move on with your life...

I can completely relate. I was in a horribly controlling marriage from 2006-2009, starting when I was 17 years old and pregnant with his child. I am now happily divorced and a single mom. Just hang in there, and whatever you do....DON'T believe all the lies he told you. My ex husband had me convinced I was not good enough for anyone, I wasn't beautiful, I wasn't smart, and no one would want me. It's amazing the effect that mental and emotional abuse has on someone. Just hang in there, the lonliness will fade. Just do things you were NEVER able to do! Even as a single mom I am now doing everything I have always loved and wanted to do. Now is the time girl...I've got faith in you

The most important thing is that you got out of there. You're strong and will mend with time. Best wishes!
