Re: New Snake, a rescue. BCC? BCI?
What are the tell tales for you? I've read over and over how difficult it is to tell them apart. I don't care what the snake is. I just want to KNOW! LOL

It is more than likely a BCI. The are just a lot more common than a BCC. I have just started getting into boa's so I really am not that experienced with them yet. Congrats on the rescue though. I am glad that this one got a good home. BTW it is nice to see another snake enthusiast from Michigan.

Although most of the signs of a BCI/BCC can be wrong(think het pied tracks, generally accepted by not always accurate) you can sort of tell by looking what a BCI is. See the dark patterns on your snake? Those are called saddles--they go like this--->) ( ) ( down the back of the animal. A BCC generally has saddles that sort of have a spike in the middle of them. Look up suriname red tail and look at the dark saddles and you'll see that center bump. Now when it comes to things like morphs and line breeding these traits aren't as accurate, but it's a good starting point to figure it out.
Also true red tails usually have more red on their tails, less of the orangey color BCIs get. They'll also be closer to 200 dollars than 70 dollars when for sale! If the guy didn't know what he was doing it is most likely a BCI, they are the most common

Ditto on purplemuffin's post.
( ) saddle = typical of BCI
{ } saddle = typical of BCC

Re: New Snake, a rescue. BCC? BCI?
Judging by the shape of the head, BCI. Here is the link to a thread with one of my canned replies on the differences. At the end of the reply are some photos for a good comparison between the two. Hope it helps...
