    Shedding?

Ok, so i know shedding is a somewhat lengthy process, my snake is past the cloudy eyes stage and should be losing the skin any day now, however i've been saying any day for the past 4 days at least, is this too long? and i see small pieces of skin in the tub, is that normal or should there be no tiny pieces? humidity has been raised to about 60-70% for shedding and never goes below 50% before i spray again.

I'm no expert, but I've read up on shedding quite a bit due to my new-found obsession with the titular pet. Are you using an analog hygrometer? If so, they are fairly inaccurate. I've heard of people comparing with digital and seeing a 20-30% variance (on the humidity percentages) in accuracy.

If that's what you're using, as I am, flaky shedding caused by low humidity is normal. Always doubt your analog.

    Re: Shedding?

Some of mine will wait a week after the blue phase before shedding. It seems like they decide to shed as soon as I stop expecting them to.

The pieces of skin could mean one of two things: it could be merely little bits getting scraped off as your snake moves about the enclosure, which is fine, as the skin is quite fragile at this stage. Or it could mean your snake is beginning to shed but can't because the enclosure is WAY too dry.

Hydrolicious brings up a good point, be sure your hygrometer is digital!

Oh, I'd also recommend bumping up the humidity a bit. They are capable of shedding successfully at 60%, but I prefer keeping mine around 80% after they get through the blue phase, just to be sure I don't have to deal with any stuck sheds.

ok that's reassuring, he looks fine and it making progress every day i just wanted to make sure i didn't need to do anything yet. I do have analog and im buying a digital as soon as i can but i highly doubt his enclosure is too dry, its an aquarium with the top covered up pretty well and it has always held a good amount of humidity. Plus i spray heavily every day since hes shedding.
