Hide Avoidance?! WTH?!?!
Nuwa has decided she absolutely does not like one of her hides. If I put it on the cool side she stays on the warm side. If I put it on the warm side she stays on the cool side.
I've tried putting her into that hide when I put her back in her enclosure and she adamantly avoids it. She will crawl on TOP of it but not IN it.
I've looked at the hide and can't see anything visually wrong with it. No sharp edges or points, there's no feces or urine on it either that I can tell.
Any suggestions?

Are the hides the exact same? If not, perhaps get two the exact same and see if that helps...

Both are coconut hides. Same size and shape. She WAS using the other one fine until just the other day and then all of a sudden started refusing to use it. Crazy snake.

Clean it. Maybe she doesn't like the way it smells.

Is there a reason why you feel like she HAS to use that hide? Just let her do her thing...she'll be fine.

some of my bps that require hides will sit on top of them instead of going inside them then you will randomly see them inside the hide again. this is what they do. Like JLC said let her do her thing.

Not really. It was more of a worry over her thermo regulating like she's supposed to if she wouldn't use it. I'm still really new to the BP world so I still worry a good bit over, what may seem like to most of the more experienced people here, nothing.

I really do understand, and didn't mean to sound critical.
Something to keep in mind, that might hopefully alleviate some of the worry and new-owner-nervousness... Is that we just have a very general, basic understanding of their needs. We do our best to meet their needs as best as we understand them, but they are truly alien to us. The longer we keep them and watch them, the more often you'll see them behaving in ways we just don't understand. We THINK we understand thermoregulation and why they must need it....but no matter what we think we understand, sometimes they'll still not do what WE think they should be doing. Just keep in mind that so long as you provide the best options you know to offer your snake....all you have to do after that is sit back and enjoy the choices your snake makes. You don't have to make those choices for him.
(That came out a little more wordy and twisty than I wanted it to....I may need another hit of caffeine. But hopefully it makes sense.)
