You have to study your genetics. Spider = dominant Clown = recessive
Spider x Normal = 50/50 Spider/Normal
Spider x Clown = 100% normal het clown

its not that scientific, use the punnett square. helps you SEE how it all works instead of just reading a bunch of stuff.

the only way to breed pieds WITH THE SNAKES YOU CLAIM TO OWN*** (this of course can be done many other ways) is...
male pied x normal female.
(if you get a hetpied female your first try)
raise that for 2-3 years breed it back to the dad.

Hi,
I'm lazy - I'd want to buy a female pied now rather than a male so that in four years I might have bred my pieds and now be in prime position to start adding genes into the mix to make pied combo's more quickly.

Technically that's not true. Each EGG has a 50% chance of being pied or het pied. Not that the clutch will be 50/50.
Same thing with co-doms bred to normals. It's not that you'll statisically get 50/50, it's that each EGG has a 50/50 chance of be normal or co-dom.

Clown works the same as pied, it is recessive. If you're confused, here are some traits of recessive genes.
- Genes come in pairs. When an animal is "het" for a gene, that means it has 1 of possible 2.
- For a recessive gene to be visual, the animal needs to be "homozygous" for that gene, meaning both genes are that recessive trait.
- To be homozygous, the babies must receive 1 recessive gene from each parent.
- Since a visual pied is obviously homozygous, he has a 100% chance of passin on his pied gene, since both genes are pied. His babies only got 1 pied gene though, so they are all now "het".
Things start getting messier with possible hets. What's happening there is that you bred 2 hets to each other, but because each het only has 1 pied gene in their gene pair, there is a possibility they passed the normal gene and not the pied gene. Since the babies will either be het or normal, you can't tell, and they declared "poss het" and are very cheap because the buyer is taking a risk.
