So you basically fill the perlite to the brim with water until the water touches the light diffuser?

I put about 2 inches or less of perlite and add water until it covers the perlite.
I then tilt the tub and drain off some of the excess water that build up in the corner and then place the light diffuser panel on the perlite.
As long as the water doesn't touch the eggs your golden.
