The weighs you listed are minimum weights. Your male can be any size above the minimum (I have seen males as small as 500+grams breed) but you want your female to have good weight as she will loose half her body weight while producing eggs.

I'm not sure how your male could be larger than your female and weigh less, is she longer?? I would try and put some more weight on her, sounds like she's not big enough to breed, going merely on weight is not always the best way of thinking. I agree 1200 grams is big enough to breed but the female should look full and healthy. Got some pics you can post?

The size difference between the two shouldn't matter. If your male weights 2000g or 700g it should make a difference as long as the female is large enough to breed.

That female looks pretty small to breed unless your arms are HUGE.
