Climbers
Hey all me an my gril were talking about different snakes to buy and both us like the ones that live mostly in trees or climb alot like tree boas/pythons but are having problems thinking of many and was wondering what ones you all have and like. Once taxes get here I'm already plaining on buying a GTP for her and a ATB for me but looking for one or two more to fill out the display stand I'm building. Thank you for you time and input

Re: Climbers
I just recently got my first amazon tree boa, and I absolutely love her. They're great because they vary so much in color and pattern, and it's tough to say what your hatchling will look like as an adult because they go through such radical changes. Some people may not like this, but I think it's what makes them fascinating.
They're not really handling snakes, though, as they are pretty tough to get out of their cages. I just recently made a pvc perch that can easily be taken out so hopefully this will make it easier to get her out. Hope this helps your decision making!

I have heard that carpet pythons make excellent display snakes. I am personally considering an irian jaya myself in the future. From what I have gathered, they do climb quite a bit and rarely hide. The tiger-like pattern is quite eye-catching too and they have nice temperaments.
As another consideration, my BCI red tail boa is quite the little climber. She spends 80% of her time on her branch and she's a real joy to have. Of course, they are quite a bit larger. But personality plus!
And my dream snake is a GTP so I would definitely go with one or two of them if you have the means, lol....

As has been said, tree boas/pythons are mainly just display animals. They are fragile and usually have nasty temperaments. I've got a couple atbs and let me tell you, they live up to their reputation as jerks. Most of them require far more work than most snakes.
Carpets might suit your needs if you want something that can be handled and are easy to care for (similar to a ball python in most respects). The downside is that as they get older they usually become more terrestrial. However, my IJ is an adult and she spends 80% of her time perched. Others I have had were more like 20% perched, 80% terrestrial.
Others to consider would be Asian vine snakes (although they are rear fanged), rough green snakes and Indonesian tree boas.

Ya I really like amazon tree boas and the GTPs those are two I'm for sure getting with taxes. An a carpet would probably work nice for biggest top cage haha. I'm working on building a display cage that fits around my tv and Is kinda like a big puzzle with how it goes together
