The waiting rule always seemed to be overkill to me. I've fed snakes the same night I brought them home from shows, or pulled them out of shipping boxes. I don't handle them a lot, but it won't hurt to take them out and check them out a bit. They also won't immediately projectile vomit if you take them out after eating...granted you can't take them out and run around your house with them, but I've taken them out the next morning after feeding, handled them a bit and put them back with no ill effects. The next day around 10pm, I fed him a fuzzy rat and he took it right awayI think there is really no reason to wait that long especially for hatchlings and there is really only one way to find out if they are ok, get them to eat. This way the new owners get re-assured that the snake is fine. Of course, do not handle them after eating. At least for two days.
