Whereas I haven't read all of this thread, I'll chime in.

Bought my snake on a Tuesday, left her alone until Friday when I had to move her back to 'permanent home' at my place. She was doing well and staying in her hide mostly so I decided to try and feed her on her usual day, Saturday. She fed quickly and was great and let me move her back to her terrarium after feeding.
I waited 2 or 3 days after feeding to handle her and when I did it was just for a little bit at a time because, being from a pet store, she was nervous. Every night lately (even after feeding yesterday) right around 10, she goes roaming around climbing on the sides and everything she can find.

So basically I think it all depends on the snake. Mine was always active even at the petstore so this is her norm, others are more shy and like to be in their hides even at night.
