    First bp...need help!!!

    So I got my first bp 2 days ago and he seems to be doing pretty good. Looks like he will be going into shed soon...I got home today and noticed his breathing was short and quick... It didn't seem like normal...can someone please help or explain what is going on to me... Thanks

    give him time to adjust to his new environment. if hes going into shed bump up the humidity a little to around 70%. dont really handle him for a week. hope it helps

    The short and quick breathing is stress related. Young baby snakes will do this when they are stressed.

    Yea, my male pastel is just over 100 grams and he does for a minute or two whenever i get him out, then he calms down and starts exploring.

    I moved his light above half of his water dish and put two damp towels on top of his screen so to keep moister and humidity in...it's been about and hour and he seems to be exploring his tank more and his breathing has calmed down...thanks for the advice

    What are you using for heat? What are you using to monitor the temp and humidity?

    I have a 75w on one end over his water bowl...and a undertank heat pad that goes on at night under his hide... I just one a plain thermo and humidity thermo that stick on the tank...the circle ones

    Needs to be regulated with a thermostat, it will get hot enough to burn your snake

    Not accurate at all, digital is better, walmart about $12 for an accurite

    His undertank heat mat is the smallest one they make...it says it eats 1-5 gal tank...I also have a ok layer of coconut bark over that spot...I check it every night but will make sure to pay close attention...I'll go to walmart tonight and find an accurite... Thanks for help and suggestions.
