No vaseline. Jojoba oil is good for stretching, what I liked best for comfort when putting new tunnels or tapers in is water based surgical or "personal" lubricant...much more slippy, and will not hinder the healing process. No soaps or lotions either. I'm only at 00 , might go to 1/2... but after 4g tapers stopped working for me. Me left earlobe was pierced when I was younger and I got in a fight with a kid who ripped it almost clean out... so I have to stretch it very carefully. My favorite method is teflon tape (the ultra thin non stick tape you put on shower pipes to seal them better). It holds onto the tunnels well, and is so thin you can gauge super gradually, rather than risking a tear.

Make sure you are also not using acrylic/plastic jewelry while you are still stretching... it's bad for healing, and I've notice a much quicker/healthier heal with using teflon tape and/or stainless steel.
