Starter Breeding Group
I'm picking out rats to lend my friend and his kids. They haven't bred before but have more then enough reptiles to have the need. He's going to keep the pups but I get first pick and the parents back. (If I want them lol) I'm pretty sure they will have a large variety of pups with these particular rats. Does this sound any good?
(F) double rex black variegated berk (carries dumbo), satin siamese, dalmatian agouti husky (carries odd eye and chocolate)
(M) russian blue capped rex dumbo (carries siamese)

These are guesses because I don't know all coat patterns and I don't know who has what recessive traits.
1) Russian blue capped X double rex black variegated should produce(assuming mom doesn't carry Russian blue)
Patterns = Berkshire, variegated, hooded, capped, barebacks, self if both carry it
Colors = Black kits that carry Siamese and maybe beige that carry Siamese
coats = Rex and double rex only
2) Russian blue capped X satin Siamese(satin is Recessive and VERY rare?)
Patterns capped, bareback and berkshire, self if both carry it
Colors = Black that carries blue and Siamese or Siamese that carries blue.
Coats = standard or rex coats that (if) your female is satin coat then all babies will carry satin coat.
3) Russian blue X dalmatian agouti husky (carries odd eye and chocolate)
Patterns = no idea, lol
Colors = agouti and black and maybe fawn or beige if red eye recessives are involved
Coats = rex and standard

Thanks Jerry~ I'm trying to give them a variety of genes to play around with. That way they can cross back or cross out with a fair few combos. Do you think it's a good start?
The satin siamese has been proven. Both the blue cap and siamese carry self. Maybe the dalmation and cap will have cap and stripes? Who knows but it will be fun to find out. I don't know for sure but the double rex was in a tub with red eye double rex. Could be related?
EDIT: I forgot to say this! The double rex appears pregnant as I observed her heat cycle and she is gaining weight. The satin siamese will be in full heat by the end of tonight too.

Any pics of the satin coat, just curious since they are so rare, they also have a lot of health issues I read?

It's rare that someone who says that they have satin, actually have satin rats, and not just normal rats with long guard hairs.

Believe me... she is a reputable rat breeder.
I should probably add that she pedigrees her rats or whatever you would call it, I don't know her personally, but shealso puts them in shows .. specialized in recessive traits like Siamese, blues, satin.

I'm not meaning to argue, but anyone can pedigree their rats and put them in a show, and call them show rats.
90% of the rats I see at east coast rat shows are feeders that are bred for feeders, a pretty one pops out, someone writes up a pedigree and calls it a fancy rat and asks $60 for it.
There were only, unfortunately, TWO people at the last show that had any rats that were worth a crap.

Hell yes anyone can pedigree rats. All you need is a program. :/ We don't have shows out here but Im sure if we did it would be feeder after feeder with a "pretty" pattern. Screw that I'll build my way up to a worthy rat.
I probably won't be able to post photos. She's going tonight along with the blue since she is in full heat. No offence to anyone but if I get a break between my two jobs I'm going to be sleeeeppiinnnngggg!
I'll ask if her new owners can snap a few shots. They have a really nice Canon Rebel T2i too.
Satins from Arizona are generally fake. CA breeders do visit and sell out here, a Cali satin isn't as rare.
