    hatch day?

Day 58, trying to find ways to kill time while I wait for pips... What was the hatch date for your latest clutch? (latest clutch you didn't cut, anyway)

Related question: after what day do people consider it "safe" to cut?

I don't cut until after the first pips on it's own.

Yeah, that's what we're trying to do. Ugh, those are some long waits, though...

56 on the 2 clutches I had this year. Both were incubated at 89.3 degrees.

I cut everything at day 52, I do not care about cutting any earlier (not that curious) I just do it at that time as it is VERY close to hatch date.

But what if it's a 60+ day clutch? Hey Homegrown, what temps are you incubating at?

We incubate around 88.5 degrees. Things seem to pip for us right on day 60. We don't cut until 3 days after the first pip.

weird how all the hatch dates so far are clustering around 56 and 60, with none at 57-59. I wonder if that's a temperature thing? But we're incubating right at 89F, and it hasn't budged for 2 months.

(My eggs are pretty big. Would big eggs take longer? I can't think of a reason why they would.)
