    Angry herpstat help asap

Okay I have a herpstat, two hydrofarms, and a johnsons thermostats for my snakes. ALL of them are working great on the generator except the darn herpstat. I getting really frustrated, I've looked for a problem and there just isn't one. The probe is secured down and the plugs are all in the right place...but the temps just keep going up and up! I had it set to 97.5 and it was reaching well over 125 in my rack. The power went out at about 8 or 9am and I'm confused because all the other thermostats are plugged into the same power strip. Anyone have any ideas?!

    Re: herpstat help asap

Try it with the Herpstat in non-proportional mode.

    Re: herpstat help asap

The herpstat wont work on a generator as it produces uneven currents. Don't use it may get damaged.

Only use a non proportional t-stat if you are going directly to a generator, the dirty electricity produced by the generator is not good for precise digital equipment.

    See here: http://www.spyderrobotics.com/home/support_ups.html

The cause is the same, a generator outputs DC, which then must be inverted to AC.
A set up such as described in the following link would work, and you can keep the Herpstat in proportional mode.
Once the power cuts out, and the generator cuts on, the back up thermostat will cut power to the Herpstat before the heat tape gets too hot. http://www.spyderrobotics.com/home/s...edocument.html

Okay...not sure if this makes a huge difference...but they are actually plugged into an ac adaptor for the car...then we ran a 100 foot extension cord to my apartment and its connected to a power strip...

If you haven't already I recommend contacting Dion at sales@spyderrobotics.com

He builds the things personally so he would know if your particular setup would cause a problem with the unit's normal function.

I did contact spyder robotics and was pretty much told the same thing you guys told me. I appreciate the help...I've decided to use adhesive heated foot warmers on the bottom outside of the tubs. For the future I will be getting those 40 hour heat packs! Thanks again....

An inverter in your vehicle is worse than a generator. You can get all kinds of interference in your power current
