Leopard geckos are definitely some great little critters however like most everything I would put buying from a breeder a priority and you can find some Leopard Geckos at show for a similar price.

Buying from a breeder mean getting an healthy animal that is well started and sadly I can't say that much when buying from a big chain pet store.

I fully agree with Deborah! Going to a breeder will typically mean you end up with a healthier and all around less stressed animal.

I just got my first Leo the last week and he is pretty awesome!

We have two. Like my snake they got rehomed with me after a family decided they no longer wanted them. I would say go with a breeder as well. My females pretty tame but boy does she like to get into mischief. She will manage get wedged between anything even when you have nothing in her cage. The male has issues. He is just a punk. Does not like to be handled at all. He is hyper and I have a hard time keeping weight on him. Oh and he is convinced he must take out my dog. He stares him down through the tank. Neat pets. Not we would have chosen, but happy to give them a good home.

Fortunately there are a ton of good breeders. Here's just a few to check out:

Def stay away from Petsmart geckos and check out your show. It will be worth it for the variety, and you will get to (hopefully) talk with a breeder who knows what they are doing and can help you get it started properly.

    They are great lizards
