Lightbulb New Homemade Crested Gecko Cage!

Here are some pics of the new crested gecko cage I just finished building. It's not quite up to my usual standards, but that's because the guy at Lowes that cut my wood didn't listen to me and measured only once BEFORE cutting. For those who don't know, doing that actually makes each successive piece smaller as the width of the blade is not accounted for. As a result, many pieces were at least 1/4" too short and I had to hand saw/sand down the other pieces to 'match'. Therefore, the cage is not as even as it should be especially the doors. Sigh.
But anyway, here is the cage. It measures 24" wide, 14" deep, and 33" tall.

    Full front view

    Side view (showing screen)

    Open doors, all decorated

    New temporary occupant

Someday, that WILL have a crested gecko in it... once all this hardship is past. But for now - Shameless plug for my custom cage building!!

Re: New Homemade Crested Gecko Cage!

Yeah, I know. Since the min. size is 18x18x24, I altered things just a bit to make it wide and tall but not too deep so it doesn't take up as much space...and I made it a bit taller since they like height best.

Ok, that and I like to give my animals the most room I can without going overboard.

Re: New Homemade Crested Gecko Cage!

Fan of green, or fan of homemade cages? Thanks for that. I figured the green would really compliment a yellow or golden crestie.

A happy note: I think I found a crested gecko!! I saw a CL ad out here from someone needing to rehome their adult males. $30, very nice yellow coloration, and they'll hold him for me until we've moved!

I can't have a crestie in this apartment since it's an oven in here. No circulation. Just to keep it below 85 in the evening, we have to open the door and there's no screen...so we swat mayflies and mosquitoes all evening. But we're moving in October, so it should be better then.

Ok, that's all for now. Thanks for all the compliments!
