Chlorhexidine solution
So i read one of my recent threads about chlorhexidine and some said they had to remix the solution. Can someone explain why? Do u dump out the whole solution and mix a new one or add more chlorhexidine or water to the old diluted chlorhexidine solution?

Tap water and Chlorhexidine doesn't last long, and you should remix a new spray bottle worth every day you are cleaning.
Distilled water and Chlorhexidine can last a lot longer

The solution breaks down fairly quickly. That's part of the reason it is so safe for use with reptiles. I never have my bottle in direct sunlight but it does stay in my heated reptile room so I make a new spray bottle every 2 weeks. With my cleaning habits (often) I usually use 2/3 of the bottle in 2 weeks. I use one of the large spray bottles. I dump the old solution, rinse the bottlem add two capful's and fill with cool tapwater.

I dont use the chlorhexidine solution often so how much water and chlorhexidine would be safe for one day? I dont want to dilute it using an ounce of water and 2 caps just for one day and then have to throw it out in 2 weeks when i didnt use half of it. Its a waste.

A cap and half a bottle work for you? I'm not sure how much you clean. Just take the ratio and break it down to how much water you put in. 1/4 spray bottle, half a cap... etc etc.

I have been told that it lasts for 48 hours with distilled water and less than 12 with tap. hard to know for sure. My vet does not dilute the 2% and rarely dilutes the 4% they use it straight.
I am switching to F10 sc and F10sc xd as they keep for 6 months diluted. No other reason, just keeping.

I've heard so much conflicting info on the dillution and length it keeps. I've heard a few weeks, a week, a few days, a day... etc. I wonder how we could finally get a concrete answer.

I wish I knew.
I asked a vet and a chemist. The vet said don't dilute it, that actually follows the instructions on the bottle. The chemist said 48 with distilled (steam distilled not condensed) and less than 12 with tap. But he wasn't sure when he has used it (biochemistry guy) they mix it use it and toss it.
No one was absolutely certain.
I am going to see if I can find tech support email at Nolvasan. Maybe they can shed some light on this?

I got a response.
I keep mine in a spray bottle I guess I need to find a cap for it...
