How much does that cost?
Yesterday my wife and I went over to the Daytona Reptile Breeders Expo. We saw a banana ball python for $60,000, and several other snakes that were more in the $5,000 to $10,000 range. Who is buying these snakes? I know it is listed for that price, but what is the most expensive snake ever sold and who bought it?
Is there a Ball Python "bubble" in that only other breeders buy these in hopes of breeding more to sell to other breeders? Or is there haggling and how much would a $60,000 snake actually be bought for?

I imagine that nearly all $1000+ morphs are sold to other breeders and/or "hobbyists". I don't know how often 5-10K+ snakes get sold, but if I'm still around I'd probably go out and find 10K to pay for a banana male in 3 or 4 years.

My goal is get a few bananas/coral glow from Kevin mcCurley sometime in the future. I will be buying a few $1,000+ males later next year....so I guess it all depends on your budget and what your aiming to produce.

Also I'm pretty sure the first imported wild caught banana fetched over $100,000. I know Kevin mcCurley of nerd spends $20-40,000 on possible new morphs wild caught from Africa.

Th Goldfinger morphs that came out a few years back were at $750,000 for the male and $1,000,000 for the females. Who would buy that? haha

either large breeders that want to get in on these projects early or serious hobbyists who have a lot of money to spend on these animals. i am not either of these and would never spend that much. i would prolly spend 1,000 on a really nice female but other than that ill keep it simple with the base morphs and wait for these expensive animals to become more available and wait for the price to go down

Even looking at them as investments, that's absurd. I can see big breeders spending big money because it will eventually pay off, but that's crazy. I bought my male Spider back in '06 for $1k lol...he's been worth every penny.

I personally would not go over the $2000 mark! I don't need a morph that bad! I will look at them at the expos! Obviously someone selling a ball python for a million doesn't really want to sell it! Even at $60K, they probaly don't really want to let it go!

What I'm to take away from this is that they don't want to sell the snake, but if somebody is willing to pay off their mortgage, why say no? In that case, my ball is for sale for 100 billion dollars.
