I usually use small cuticle scissors, but have used a razor blade at times. I've also hit a few veins (candling does help find them) but have had no issues so far.
I do remember reading that cutting larger veins can harm the baby??? Can any experts out there confirm this? Isn't the blood flowing through these veins circulating through the baby via the umbilicus? I'm confused...
In any case, it's best to avoid cutting the veins...
