New member DIY Rack expanded pvc 41qt tubs
Well I built a few melamine racks and boy are those heavy lol. With heading back to school I really thought Id just bite the bullet and try to find some expanded pvc for a lighter easier to transport rack. This rack consist of two 4x8 sheets, and I will show how it was cut up in a awesome paint drawing below.
This was my design, this left me with making 5 shelves per 4x8 (blue squiggly lines), the 5/5/3 were cut down to 6 feet for the legs/support and the spare 11in was excess I could use later (needed). So two 4x8 sheets got you 10 shelves, 6, legs, and two nice excess trim pieces.

Here is how I put it together, sorry no step by step in pictures.
-Built from top to bottom upside down on a flat surface
-4 corner legs first, 3in for the front, 5 in for the back/side
-Each level I used a white colored pencil to mark where the board lined up and pre-drilled holes only through the legs. Did it this way for every shelf.
-First few shelves are a pain, because the legs want to fall down, extra pair of hands would of been nice.
-After all the shelves and legs were secured I put the two back legs/supports on. This aids in both support and keeping the tubs from sliding back too far.
- (not shown) Next since 41qt tubs are quite flimsy/flexible I used the spare extra trim (from the chopped down legs) down the middle of the sides to keep the snakes from being able to push out. I can take a picture if needed.
(I apologize for the messiness of the basement. I've been doing a lot of work down there instead of outside due to heat)

Now I am just waiting on my new flexwatt to get in and I should be good to go. I also have enough extra trim that I should be able to find a way to add another two levels on there making it an 11 tub rack.
I also mostly decided on this from ssscales diy

Yeah 1/2, the price really kind of sucked. Before I went down there I talked with a guy and he gave me a quote of 56 per sheet. I was like (I am for sure getting a few). When I got there though the other person said he quoted me for the 1/4 and was wrong and it was about 100 per sheet. I was about to leave since I could get the 1/2 at a few different places for 100 per sheet but I was already there so I went ahead and did it.

what type of hardware/screws did you use. Also why not go with white? especially with bp's even the most careful owner has experienced mites i would think white would make them more visible and easily detected right off the bat to ensure you caught any issues before they got to an extreme.
