well It not a surprise another issue with food but why does always seem to be be issued after the meat should either be consumed or either frozen/gone bad already. I think they need to find a faster way to test for these outbreaks .. I hope noone gotten sick from this recent outbreak .

That's a recall not an outbreak. Testing caught it before people actually got sick. E. Coli is prevalent in a lot of the animals guts already. It's all about how it was processed at the plants. It's not in the meat it's in the gut and careless processing causes contamination. Ground beef is a problem because the E. Coli is on the surface of the meat cuts. Grind it up and the contamination is spread all over. Steaks on the other hand the contamination can be on the surface so that's why you can do rare usually without and issue.
