I live in alberta, and i've been trying to find the Acu-rite 00891 model for my ball python. I've tried literally everywhere and i can't find it. Even amazon won't ship to me. Any ideas? Is there a different digital thermo/hygro that's just as good?

I always get my thermometers from Home Hardware. I've tried the bigger box stores (Home Depot, Rona, Walmart) and they never seem to have anything good.

You are better off with out the accurite anyway, I have had 3 now two got returned after checking and finding them out side the specs (more than 2ºF high and more than 10% humidity from accurate) The last one was just inside the 2ºF mark and I gave it away. They are also very bulky to use anyway and prone to dirt and crud that will make then even worse.

I test instruments in my work so I have very accurate science grade ones I check against. The best cheap ones I have found that is a combo is a flukers one, I tested 4 now and they are close to accurate and contestant to each other.

If you need a probe thermometer look on ebay for very very cheap aquarium ones. Digital thermometers are either accurate and very expensive (more than a typical set up with herpstat and all) or cheap and not very accurate. If you buy very cheap (I paid 1.20 shipped each for the ones I have) you can buy 3 of them or better 5 and check them against each other and only use the ones that are basically reading the same.

Hygrometers basically are the same with a few exceptions there are a few on the market that can be calibrated the test is easy and accurate (google salt test) and if they can be adjusted you can correct them if they are incorrect. I really like the western instruments analogue ones (brass body) They run locally to me about 10-14$ you can find them online for half that. The face is metal not card that causes errors in the reptile dial types and has a calibration screw on the back. The only problem is the magnet used to hold them is very weak and the metal part it hold to falls off it can be re-glued easily however. (hot melt)

The digital ones with adjustments are 3 time more and the dial used to change them is on the front and easily moved (by your snake or at least mine has many times) So I'd stick with the brass one.
