What would you consider to be cheap for frozen rats and mice? Not from online stores.

I'm just curious because I buy from two places, but one place i have to wait every two weeks just to buy from him.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you pay? I have a guy that sells me rat fuzzies for .75 for live and .50 for frozen. When I buy adult mice it usually comes to around .85 each. I know you can order online from places like rodentpro.com or micedirect.com, but shipping usually runs about 40.00.This wouldnt be a problem, but if your like me you dont need
    500+ rodents at a time.

I'm looking for somewhere cheap to by rodents. I don't want to buy online because I only see options to buy 100+ rodents at a time, and I DO NOT need to pay over $80 for 100 rat pinks.
I don't have anywhere I currently buy from since I just got my snake yesterday.

If you have pet stores in the area that sell frozen thawed may be your only option. They usually cost about as much as live. Gormet Rodent and Arctic Mice are two brands that the Petco / Petsmart sell. The advantage for fedding frozen is the feeder is free from any endo/ecto parasites, and they are able to be stored with no noise or smell.

i buy frozen rats at this one pet store for like 2 dollars and live they sell 4 something. So i dont want to buy live and I'm trying to save money. The person that sells cheap frozen rats and mice they sell for like $1 something for a small rat frozen or live, but they only come by every two weeks.

Depends where you're from, and what size of mouse/rat you buy. Just compare and you will know. For instance, a local petstore by my house sells large f/t rats for 8 dollars. The chain petstore sells the same sized f/t rats for 20 bucks. Also, you can try looking at local classifieds for feeders. That is where I found my current supplier. Way cheaper. About 50% lower price than a petstore.

Only problem with local people and breeders are parasites. I did a fecal on my Mojave the other day and found digested scabies mites. These are harmless to your reptile, but the amount of pinworm I found was unsettling. As long as their raised in a semi clean enviornment you should be fine.

Every show in my area has atleast 1 vendor there. I stock up then. Always get enough to hold me over till the next show with some to spare. Even if you only have one snake you can buy 1 tray of mice or rats and they will last in the freezer. Much cheaper than the pet store...

Re: What would you consider to be cheap for frozen rats and mice? Not from online sto

I have no choice but to buy volume frozen. The local pet store sold 4 frozen large mice for 10.99 and back then it took two boxes to make it around the room. That was over 23$ for one feeding, frozen. I couldn't keep that up so I went online. I got 100 mice and 250 chicks delivered for $101.00. Yes its more than i need at one time, but when stored at sub zero temps, they don't lose hardly any nutritional value in the 6 months it will take me to use them. At any rate its the only way I can afford to feed my pets. To answer your question, large mice 34cents, chicks, 12 cents
