Could you just use normal hides and then have the skull as a decorative piece anyway, you never know the snake might use the skull by his´or hers own choice. With this option you can make sure your snake feels secure and still have the skull in your set up.

while having the skull as a decorative piece is a great idea, you'd really wanna fill it up with dry foam (like the kind found at craft stores) to keep the snake from exploring it & risking getting itself stuck in one of the holes.
dry foam is also used by florists to make silk flower arrangements.
