Grid in tubs for eggs ?

For those that use egg crates or those grid looking things in tubs, does it really matter how wet ur vermiculite is if the grid separates the eggs from the vermiculite/hatchrite ??

Nope, doesn't matter at all. It can be soaking wet, just needs to be stable enough to support the weight of the light diffuser with the eggs on top of it, so that it doesn't sink down into the medium and gets the eggs wet. That's what's so nice about using that method for incubation.

I use pvc couplings under the diffuser to support it, that way I don't have to worry about it sagging and the eggs getting wet.

Defuser? I was just gonna throw the tub in the HM incubator. I just wanted to know if it mattered how wet the vermiculite was when u sit the eggs on top of the plastic grid.

It's not slang it's what the grid is cut from, a light diffuser panel like you would see covering the light at a doctors office or any business that has fluorescent lighting in the ceiling.

Ryan said it perfectly, I fill the water until it touches the bottom of the light diffuser piece and have four tiny holes for ventilation and my eggs don't mold up and they always have excellent humidity.
