    Misting question, and changing substrate

Hello! I have been misting my BP tank in the morning and in the evening, and when I notice that humidity is low. How is the tank supposed to look after I mist? I mean to say, how much water exactly is a "mist"? Should the substrate be wet? It seems to dry up pretty quickly. I use paper towels, by the way.
Also, how often should I be changing out the paper towels? So far, I've only done it once, for a poo, but I've had Jackson for a week.

I was told do it at least twice a day. I am not too sure if it's suppose to be wet but at least it has to be damped.

What you could do is if you have a screen top witch you might have is wet paper towel or a rag or any type of cloth and lay it on to of the lid, don't cover the whole lid but atleast 3/4ths of it.

Misting shouldn't be necessary most of the time if your enclosure is set up correctly. What kind of set up do you have and how are you measuring humidity?

Substrate should never be wet (except for moss in a humid hide if you have one). It can cause scale and respiratory issues. I use Aspen, not paper towels, but I check for spot cleans every day and do a full clean out after each shed. Paper towels may need to be more frequent, as you can't spot clean.

Try to just mist the sides and any plants of hides in the cage. If you mist the floor your snake can get sick/infections so its best to keep the floor dry.

You don't want it to be soaking wet. Anything that doesn't dry up quickly will eventually have potential to cause scale rot because the snake's underside is constantly wet. Just a quick mist that'll make the paper towel damp a little bit should do until the evening when you next mist. You want the paper towel to dry off in between.

If you really want to raise humidity and maybe reduce how often you need to mist, you could reduce the ventilation by covering the lid (assuming you use a tank) over the hot side and the area with the water dish with plastic wrap, just leave at least two or three inches of the lid uncovered so the air doesn't become stagnant. That way when you mist it will keep the moist air in longer.
