Why does my Ball Python do this in her tank?

My ball python is always sticking her head up and being still. If she's not doing this, she just sticks her head out of her hide a bit! Is this normal?

Do you have a substrate? It looks to me like she is just on the glass.

    That's hysterical. I love periscopers. They're usually extra-friendly, too.

Get her a climbing stick, see if she goes for it. And yes, if that's bare glass she's sitting on, you probably want at least paper towels as substrate.

Mine does that too sometimes. I think he likes to look at the tv haha. I put a branch in his cage and he usually rests on it and watches whats going one.

Thanks everyone! By the way NO she is not on bare glass. She has quite a bit of coco-fibre in her tank. I tried listening to her breathing but didn't hear anything. She does this all the time!

I have one that "periscopes" constantly to try and watch TV and another that sticks her head out of the hide whenever someone walks by.
