I believe in gecko section on this Forum is a tread when one of our User did something similar with tall tub to look at His Cresties... Let me take a look and find it for You

Kaorte use mesh here with i dont recommend for ball (humidity and temp loss will be to big) but I believe piece of plexiglass will do nicely...
I believe that cutting one side to making viewing window is all right... he still will have 3 milky sides and i recommend to use hides to keep him feel secure but i don't see a reason to dont do it.
