When does it stop?

I was speaking with a good friend of mine yesterday when this question arose..... (When does it stop). Wandering myself what this meant for a moment It finally hit me lol. Never! The question at hand was meant for ball pythons and Ball python morphs in general and how many animals are considered too many? I would really like to know peoples opinion on this subject. Myself I feel as long as you can take care of the animals you have by proper feeding,housing,temps ect it should be totally up to you. Besically I am wondering does it ever come to the point where you are a HOARDER and not a Breeder? Or can you ever have too much?

I believe that is on an individual basis. 3 snakes for some might be hoarding and 50 for others isn't. It just depends on the care you are giving to them.

Hoarding is an anxiety based disorder. Having 100 snakes is okay as long as you don't start pushing family members away and experiencing clinical levels of anxiety if you have to part with one of them. Someone who hoards would use their snakes as their main coping resource, meaning that their snakes would be the main thing that kept them going every day.

I agree, as long as you can give them the proper care they require and deserve, you are by no means a hoarder.

I agree. As long as you can give the animals proper care, and you don't go into a huge spiral of depression if you have to part with one.

Being sad is one thing, especially if you have to put an animal down for one reason or another (it's never easy, losing an animal that relies on and trusts you), but letting it take over your life completely is another.

So, yeah. Care given and state of mind of the owner determine the difference between being a breeder/collector and a hoarder.
