UFC 133 Live Blog: Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama Updates

PHILADELPHIA -- This is the UFC 133 live blog for Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama, a middleweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view from the Wells Fargo Center.

In all three of his UFC fights, Akiyama (13-3) has earned Fight of the Night bonuses. However, he's also currently on a two-fight skid. Belfort (19-9) returns after failing to dethrone Anderson Silva for the belt this past February at UFC 126.

Round 1: The two touch gloves and we're underway. Belfort fires off a head kick. Akiyama ducks it. Belfort measuring him. A straight left lands. Akiyama backs up to the cage. Belfort misses his follow-up. Back to the middle now. Akiyama tried the front kick that Anderson Silva used to KO him. It misses. Belfort explodes with a left hand. Akiyama goes down. He follows with strikes from the top. Akiyama back to his feet but Belfort savages him, drops him again and finishes on the ground.

Winner: Vitor Belfort via TKO, Rd. 1 (1:52)
