Need a decent thermostat. Would like to stay within $30.

    Any suggestions?
I only have one heat source to plug it in to at the moment (heat lamp) but I am considering also getting a UTH, so one with at least two outlets would be great.

If that is your budget, I'd go with the Hydrofarm.

I second Hydrofarm, it's budget friendly and is usually pretty good.

if there are two numbers, it means (# of males) . (# of females) so if I say I have 1.3 pastels, I have one male and three female pastels.

If there are three numbers, it means (# of males) . (# of females) . (# of unsexed animals) so if I say for instance I have 3.6.2 tarantulas, then I'm saying I have three males, six females, and two that I don't know the sex of.

    1.0 means one male
    0.1 means one female
2.2 means two males and two females
So on and so forth.. make sense?

EDIT: She beat me to it, and I also completely forgot about the unsexed, lol thank you!

    Hi,

If your heat lamp gives off visible light then the constant turning on and off will not only drive you nuts but shorten the life of the bulb considerably.

For bulbs I would only use a proportional thermostat - and you are sadly not going to get one for $30 or anywhere close.

I had a feeling it would reduce bulb life.
What if just reduce the bulb wattage and use the UTH on the thermostat.
    Think that would work?
