    Why do you breed?

So I've been curious lately as I look through all the post of hatches this year and I'm just curious to know why You breed? I don't breed balls yet, just leopard geckos, but I do it for many reasons. I do do most of my breeding for small profit and extra spending money for a new morph and such, but most of Why I do it is because its so exciting. My girlfriend seriously goes crazy When I constantly want to drive back to my house to check on a female I know is about to drop eggs soon. There is such a euphoria When you open the top to find perfectly shaped healthy eggs sitting there wait for you. I also like to see the outcomes from different morphs. Quite exciting in itself. My goal in life is to create a never before seen Leo and BP morph ( for a Leo I want some morph with a base in bell albino, and for the BP I want some serious coral glow influence.....Yes I Do realize cg go for $22k+ but there is always time. I am only 19 :o) ). So Yeah I'm just curious why you breed Your snakes....whats the reason and what are your future plans for it?

Initially because I wanted an albino pied, axanthic pied, and panda pied. While researching how exactly to go about it (besides dropping 10-15K each) I caught the stupid BP bug. That worldofballpythons.com site really screwed me over. I spent dozens upon dozens of hours (and still do) pouring over the different morphs.

Now I have over 50 BPs in a snake room, a GTP in my living room, and ~1000 rats in my garage. Only a handful of them are directly related to the initial pied projects that we wanted to play with. Some of them are forever pets that we fell in love with, and some of them are long-term potential money makers to help us make some of the initial "investment" back. This is one expensive hobby to start up!

I don't breed (yet) but am planning on starting soon, and mostly it'll be just for my collection. There are a couple combos I want to make (starting with going for a super pastel hypo yellowbelly and maybe some other combinations of those genes) because I love them but would never be able to afford buying one of course I'll sell the offspring that I won't be using to breed/further my projects and the profit would be nice, but that wasn't my motivation originally.

I don't breed yet either, but I will hopefully be able to produce 1-2 clutches this year. I want to breed because I love snakes and all the different morphs. It also seemed more logical at the time to buy the pieces I would need to make some of the morphs I want instead of saving for the 2-3 years it would take to buy what I want out right, like in 2-3 years I'm going to be praying for a stinging bumble bee (enchi X spider X pastel) when I breed my enchi to my bee. I also want to know what it feels like to hatch my first baby because if it's even half of what I'm imagine it will feel like it will be a great experience. ^__^

I breed for the joy of it and sharing the joy and love I have for these reptiles with other people. I have probably just now covered the cost of just my leos with breeding them the last two years, and I have only produced a handful of normal bps this year so far. The joy and excitement outweighs the money, in my eyes

I dont yet but I plan on starting in a year or so. mainly just to make a few things, and I want to keep a BP my entire life from the bloodline of the very first one I have had. I think that would be really cool.

That right there is why I breed. Because there is no better feeling then watching your daughter adore a freshly hatched ball python. Plus its even cooler when its a morph!

I breed because I love playing with genetics. It is so cool to put two balls together and see what comes out of the egg. The excitement of seeing that nose peeking out of the egg. What will it be? I am not in it for the money, heavens knows I spend way more than I make. I do enjoy very much giving the babies to people that couldn't afford a morph and introducing people to the wonderful world of balls.

This is my first season breeding, and I'm doing it for the same reason Jason just posted. To watch how excited my kids are at seeing the whole process. I enjoy it quite a bit too though.
