Lilith's first time outdoors (lotsa pics)

Took Lilith to work with me and then let her have fun outside. She was no impressed with the grass at first. Then realized she was free and made a "run" for it. Nice to see her happy oh and PS little lady is about 1200g now. And is a garbage disposal for rats.

first time on grass.. see her grossed out face?

    FREEDOM!!

    not to hijack...

she's a great snake, and I keep seeing these wonderful pictures of everyone's snakes outside on the grass and climbing trees. however, when I first started keeping snakes as a kid, I was warned never to take them outside and put
them on the ground for fear of picking up parasites or risking exposure to pesticides. I've taken some of mine outside previously in my hands, but that admonition I was given as a kid has stuck with me all these years, and I've never so much as let any of my snakes bask on concrete outside. the question at the end of this circuitous rambling is whether I was misinformed as a 10-year-old. is it safe to let captive-born reptiles roam around outside (supervised of course)?

Thank you! She is pretty awesome! Had her since since she was a wee 150g munchkin.

She really did go off to explore, one adventurous snake

-wwmjkd- thanks and for snakes outside I took her to a place I know they don't spray. Your little ones should be fine, give them a soak in the tub after and clean with Johnson& Johnson baby shampoo. Thats what I use doesn't irritate and also clean hem after a big poo that way. Just take them onto places that aren't sprayed regularly and bathe them after would be my advice.

Re: Lilith's first time outdoors (lotsa pics)

I worried about that also - but my biggest fear was that they would hurry and burrough thru the ground and dissappear - can that possibly happen.

Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo - for real???

much appreciated. I'll pick up the baby shampoo next time I'm at the store and look for places I'm sure that no pesticides are used.

I always enjoy seeing people who have raised their snakes from a young age. it really can't be beat.

    L. West- she is large and rather slow they can't go too fast as long as you watch them should be fine.. take them somewhere you know the terrain fairly well.... and yes Johnson&Johnson.. i know but it works great and they are happy ... plus its non toxic.... bath time is an endeavor in these parts

wwmjkd- awesome you will have to post some pics of yours when they are outside! if you put them in tub let them be a moment before you soap them up. I find some of mine like to get underwater and drink.... there is something so rewarding seeing them grow up from fuzzy rats to med rats.. crazy stuff! Can't wait for my first clutch so that I can be part of my snakes life from egg to adult!
