Striked at feeding, now she wont eat , 2 rats lost! :(

Ok Guys, Last week I went to feed my bp with a med sized rat, she already had 3 previous. But when I went to feed her, she had struck at it twice and mist both times that nite. Now this week I have tried again with the same sized rat and she doesnt strike at it, shows intrest and snifs round it but doesnt take it!!

No signs of shedding ( ruled that out )

    Is she just being fussy?

More info is needed to give you an answer.

How much does the snake weigh?
How much does the "medium" rat weigh?

Pics of the snake if you don't know or don't have the weight?

That sound like a stress move. Or a defensive strike. More info on your setup, Handling, age, temps etc is definately needed so we can help out a bit more.

stress, provide hides one or two, two is best, add some fake plants a enough so the snake feels secure, i add stuff in front of the tank where the most active is, like people walking buy, buddies being loud. cardboard boxs are the best hides to use cheap and perfect sizes for largers snakes.

Give your snake some time. My new ball did that for about 5 weeks. Im guessing it was more stressful for her than it was for me. Try again in a week or two

Hey guys, she has two hides, 1 cold side & 1 hot side, theres some plants (fake) and a small branch two. I do have a bigger branch for her to climb on, shes about 275g, only had 7weeks from tiny, as the breeder was feeding her on small pups. Shes nov 10 cb, had her and shes fully of life and the tongue going nuts too.

Rat size is the same size as her belly and she already had 3 of them prev, have no cable to upload pics just yet.

Oh, and the temps are 50-60 humidity, and heat is 83

Sounds like she's not hungry and the rats are annoying her by being in her space. You didn't say if you were feeding live or f/t.

I have a big girl who struck twice and "missed" last night when she's usually dead on. Then I realized, she just wasn't hungry and the rat was annoying her. So, I removed it and fed it to someone who WAS hungry.

It's ok if she misses a week or two. Sounds like she's letting her body "catch up" from the previous meals.

Your hotspot is 83?? Way too cold if it is. If is you need to get that to 92.f ASAP. Your cool end should be 80.
Definately could be a reason for stress and not eating.
I would also not handle until she eats again and maybe let her have a few meals in a row before you start handling. Handling can make a small problem into a big one.

Indeed, too cool, and don't handle until it's feeding regularly.
