just a question on shedding
our little guys eyes turned blue on the 9th and they are lightening back up does this mean his nose should start spiltting soon? also do your snakes stay in their hide while shedding? ours has been in his since he ate on monday. this will be his first shed for us and we want to make sure it goes okay thanks for your advice and answers in advance!

Generally(for me anyway) the blue eyes last for 3-5 days, then they clear up. Once they clear up, you can expect a shed within 48 hours. Hope that helps.

I was just reading this thread today... I bet he already shed, but here is some advise that helped me through my first shed...
Bump up the humidity to about 70-80% and provide a humid hide or soak him. Many people say this is not a necessity but its better safe than sorry
Let us know how it went!
Proud owner of a Male Ball python since January 10th 2005. He is my first snake. If I give you any advice, it is from personal experience and tons of research. I am in no way an expert.

yeah he finally finished shedding, it came off in a bunch of pieces so i know that the humidity was too low but i am working on that so here is the question ... besides a humid hide what are some ways to up the humidity in his tank? we thought about something along the lines of an ultrasonic fogger to help but we dont know how well that will work. alot of the pet stores up here dont carry snakes so it is harder to find things up here when you dont know where to go. what do each of you use? and yes i have a digital humidity reader i just need a good way to up it. thanks.

Is your snake new ?
Dont worry egyptian_Sphynx, with new snakes, even with the proper humidity, they may not shed that well....it depends on where you got him and how he/she was shedding there.
