How to get bp big as possible

    Hi everybody,

I have a 20" bp and was wondering if there is any way I can make him grow as big as possible. I am NOT asking to make him grow as fast as possible (power feeding). I was just wodering if there is anything I can do to encourage growth, or is it all based on heredity?

I have already asked this at redtailboa.net, but was wondering what you guys thought.

I believe a lot is genetic, since you hear of rescue cases where the snake was older and being starved.. so it stopped growing, then after rescue it was fed regularly, and resumed growth. A male BP is not going to get that big though.. if you want a large BP, buy a female.

I can't verify if this is really a male but some do get large. If this is a boy he would be a huge exception to the rule! Scroll down to the second post by Pelota and checkout the pic.

In any case this is an exceptionally large royal.

I think this pic shows a more realistic size one can expect from an adult male royal...

hmm..still pretty good size. I hope mine is a female. I guess I have to get a columbian rtb to satisfy my craving for a big snake. But you gotta love balls. In my opinion, anybody who loves snakes should get at least one ball.

Chances are, none of our BPs will ever get as big as this one -

Proud owner of a Male Ball python since January 10th 2005. He is my first snake. If I give you any advice, it is from personal experience and tons of research. I am in no way an expert.
