Raccoons in my yard....
So there are two raccoons in my yard tonight. I have seen them before because they like to knock over my trash and dig through it. Tonight, I noticed that one of them is hurt. I can't tell which one of his legs it is because it's dark but he's definitely dragging around. He sat right on his bottom in front of me and didn't care that I was there until his friend came around to get him. I think he must've gotten scraped by a car or fell out of a tree or something. He's not bleeding and has a good appetite. I fed him a piece of bologna and a hot dog bun.
I hope that he will be okay. :/

Re: Raccoons in my yard....
honestly i bet he'll be alright although dragging that limb around would be kind of a hinderance if he ever needed to make a quick getaway...you sure it wasnt his tail? those do kinda drag a little and if one of his limbs was dragging you'd definitely see a differance in the walk, it'd be a major limp.
racoons kinda walk a little funny anyhow, kind of a shuffle.

lol, yes, I am sure that it wasn't his tail. He is definitely hurt. Have you ever seen a large dog with severe hip dysplasia? That's almost what it looked like. I'm going to keep an eye out for him tonight and see how he's acting. Maybe through him another piece of bologna.
And on a side note, Mike, EW!

I just wanted to update that the hurt raccoon is doing great! Saw him and his buddy again, across the street, he looks like he's getting around pretty good these days.

I've got one raccoon in my yard...I can't leave my rodent room open over night as it'll eat every one of my mice out of the grow up tub since there's no top on it. I learned that the hard way....
